Günter „Baby“ Sommers Großprojekt erweist der legendären „Brotherhood Of Breath“ des südafrikanischen Musikers Chris McGregor (Piano, Flöte, Komposition) aus den 70er und 80er Jahren seine Referenz. Mit ungezügelter Spielfreude erweckt es den grenzenlosen Geist der damaligen Pioniere zu neuem Leben „Musik muss einen Rhythmus besitzen“ hatte Chris McGregor 1971 das Konzept seiner Kompositionen beschrieben: „Ich habe einfach genug von dieser beschissenen Avantgarde, die meint, dass die Musik auf die time verzichten solle. […] Die Leute hier in Europa identifizieren sich nicht mit der Trommel. Und das ist schade“.Baby Sommers Projekt transponiert die Vergangenheit einer spezifischen Formation aus der jüngeren Jazzgeschichte in die Gegenwart – als Impuls für die aktuelle Musikszene (auch über die Grenzen des „Jazz“ hinaus) – und nicht zuletzt auch für eine multi-kulturelle Verständigung. Denn die „Brother & Sisterhood“ verbindet nicht nur Musiker verschiedener Nationalitäten, Musiktraditionen und Geschlechter, sie gibt auch ein Beispiel für eine „Identität“, in der sich solche Kategorien als irrelevant erweisen und auflösen.Die Großformation begeistert das Publikum und vereint ausgewiesene FreeJazz-Fans und jugendliche Jazzrock-Anhänger.

For over two decades, saxophonist Silke Eberhard and trumpeter Nikolaus Neuser have been working together in Berlin’s progressive jazz scene. Their work spans ensembles of various sizes and interdisciplinary projects connecting improvisation with dance, literature, and visual art.They perform original compositions as well as contemporary interpretations of Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy, and have appeared at festivals such as Jazzfest Berlin and the Moers Festival. Their international collaborations include artists like Talibam!, Maggie Nicols, and Matthew Herbert. After their opening duo set, they will be joined by Clara Däubler and Willi Hanne for a second set.

Potsa Lotsa XL presents Pizza LotsaWas haben Artischocken, Mozzarella, Tomaten und zehn Improvisationsmusiker:innen gemeinsam? Bei Pizza Lotsa geht das Ensemble Potsa Lotsa XL um die Berliner Saxophonistin und Komponistin Silke Eberhard dieser Frage musikalisch nach. Inspiriert vom dadaistisch beeinflussten eigenen Kurzfilm Eine Sekunde Nichts werden Pizza-Rezepte zu Partituren und Zutaten zu musikalischen Charakteren. Wie bei einer guten Pizza kommt es schließlich auf die richtige Mischung an: Aus vielen eigenständigen Komponenten entsteht etwas Neues, Überraschendes – und im besten Fall Unwiderstehliches.
Mit eigens für das Projekt entwickelten Kompositionen, kollektiver Improvisation und großer Lust am spielerischen Perspektivwechsel verwandelt Potsa Lotsa XL kulinarische Ideen in vielschichtige Klangwelten.
